Special Feature - Save the Grand Canyon

Take Action to Protect the Grand Canyon!

AWA - Southern Rockies Stewardship Team

Dear Boater,

The Grand Canyon needs your help, and now is the time to speak up. The Colorado River Basin has been facing overuse and aridification for decades and this year is a pivotal time for decision makers and all who depend on the river. The federal government must decide how Glen Canyon and Hoover Dams will be managed for the next twenty years, and their decision depends on how much water users will commit to leaving in the river.

The Bureau of Reclamation has let the river basin states continue to miss deadlines to agree on how to share water cuts. Through all the messy negotiations, the river has the most to lose. There is a lot at stake; drinking water for forty million people, a lifeline for ecosystems across the arid west, and some of the most iconic whitewater canyons in the world. We need real people who have firsthand experience on healthy rivers to advocate for the Grand Canyon and the greater Colorado River before it is too late.

The Bureau of Reclamation is accepting comments through March 2. Make your voice heard today! No matter where you live in the U.S., the future of the Colorado River affects all of us. Use this form to submit your comment directly and if you can, make sure to personalize your message with a story from a river experience in the Grand Canyon, or anywhere on the Colorado River.

Thank you for using your voice to protect Colorado River flows!
