Presidents Corner : November 25

November, 2025

Hello, fellow rafters!
One of the things I love most about our club is that we’re more than just a group of boaters—we’re a river community. We’re people who come together not only to paddle but to learn, to celebrate, and to give back. This year alone we’ve had excellent programs like Wilderness First Aid and Swiftwater Rescue
training—skills that keep us sharp and safe out on the water (and give us bragging rights at the campfire).
Our community also thrives through events like the Upper Clackamas Whitewater Festival and the Lower
Clack Cleanup. Whether we’re racing down rapids or hauling soggy tires out of the river, these gatherings
keep the waterways (and our spirits) vibrant. And don’t forget our support for American Whitewater—
an organization that helps protect the places we love to paddle.
Join us for our next club meeting on NOV 12th to hear about the journey of 12 club members on their memorable 131 miles Tatshenshini river in SE Alaska trip.
As we bring another memorable year of our club history and journey of meetings and river trips towards closure, please help wrap it up at our Dec 12th Holiday Party at Lucky Lab where UGLY SWEATERS get the head turns AND THE PRIZE. This year we will be featuring two categories: Adults and Children (18 and under) for awards.
My personal favorite event at our Holiday Party is the White Elephant! Bring a wrapped gift with a price
limit of $25 or better yet, from your garage of old camping or rafting gear that you are ready to trade in.
We will draw numbers and begin stealing gifts. This is also a good time to discuss river lotteries with your
neighbor for the upcoming year.
We have several board positions opening for 2026. Your energy and ideas could make a real difference!
Consider running for one of our open board positions:
Vice President of Events – Bring people together, spark creativity, and help shape the fun and connection that make our club thrive. Bring in new guest speakers.
Treasurer – Play a key role in keeping our club strong and sustainable while ensuring our resources support great activities.
President – Lead with vision and heart. Inspire others, guide the team, and help move our club
forward into an exciting year.
Every great club grows through members who say yes to leadership. Maybe this is your moment!
See you on the water (or at the pizza table).
